Wall

Scarred and scuffed by streaks of black,
strength slowly drained through the cracked white paint.
A dead roach finds refuge at your base
and dust clings to your surface.

Once, in former and more glorious days,
You were white.
Your freshly painted surface shined like pearl.
You were strong, young, and proud.

No one dared to touch you
for fear of upsetting your protective beauty.

And then the cracks appeared,
And then the streaks,
And the paint was peeled from your face
Slowly,
and painfully,
You grew old.

And now,
You have become a shrine for insects and dust particles.

A Crumbling
and dissolving,
your collapse is imminent,
my old friend.
