Wind Chime Song
Tubular bells that forever ring,
What joy is it, that of which you sing?
Do you sing for the wind, whose inspiration moves,
your tinkling dance on a marionette's string?
Is it the wind, who your music behooves?
Perhaps you simply interconverse,
Your comments irrelevant, brief, and quite terse.
What is it you speak of, to occupy so long,
your attention, producing this shimmering verse?
Is it company that inspires your metallic song?
Your voices paint the trembling air,
with mirrored colors, lustrous, fair.
Of that which your burnished voice ever sings,
My feeble mind may never dare,
Yet unparalleled joy it ever brings.
