Colored Rain - Blue

This somber watered sorrow
streaks the hospital windows,
as I watch the tender river-streets
flow slowly, smoothly onward.

The twilight sky, the star-flecked night,
does rain its sighs, does weep till dawn,
does cringe in shame at the spirited paralysis,
and, with guilty gratitude, prays until morning.

Prays for healing of this hyacinth girl,
this beautiful, chained, hyacinth girl,
whose eyes hold hope for all of us,
and sighs remind me of my sin.

For she drinks these tears of sympathy
with so hot an inner flame
that she truly conquers arrogance,
and puts an end to shame.

The second and fourth stanzas are especially powerful. i really like the way you repeat "hyacinth girl", and each stanza seems to have its own mood. It's quite a moving poem.

i changed it to Prokofiev because he's known for it and i like him, although some Rach. etudes are atonal. But you're right, the imagery doesn't suit him.
