Walking at Midnight - 9/22/05

An overture of darkness,
accompanied by cricket symphony
a libretto inspired by twilight epiphany,
begins this opera of moonlit starkness.

An aria of a lonely star
a crimson, piercing tone through graymist clouds
that covers choral partners, like a shroud
a fiery blossom, or brightly lit cigar.

A moment of climactic tone,
a lonely pitch of zenith'd speak,
with arms spread wide and opened lung,

a calm descent, a crest undone,
a gently falling, withered peak,
and final silence that claims those words unsung.
